367. Prajnananda, Swami, 368. Prajnananda Saraswati, Swami (1884-1921)

Prajnananda Swami was born at Calcutta. He was one among the religious leader those had taken part in revolutionary activity in freedom movement. His actual name was Debabrata Basu. He was connected with Jugantar dal.He was arrested due to the confession of the state prisoner Naren Gonsai.and later released.After some time he gave up politics and join Ramkrishna Mission .

Prajnananda Saraswati was born in Barisal in 1884.His original name was Satish Chandra Mukhopadhyay. He joined in Anti Partition of Bengal movement in 1905. He was a teacher at the start of his career. He became assistant secretary of Swadesh Bandhab Samity of Barisal This was the strongest organisation in Barisal at that time.. It was because of him a centre of "Jugantar" revolutionary organisation was started  in Barisal on 1906. When Mahatma Aswini Kumaar and Satish Chattopadhyay was imprisoned he took the charge of 150 branches of the organisation with innumerable  members. Sankar Math with the ideals of Sankaracharya was constructed as the office of Jugantar Dal in Barisal.He began to go, to and fro, to Banaras in 1909.He had connections with Biplabi Rashbehari Bose and Sachin Sanyal.He took Sannyasi from Sankaracharya Saraswati of Banaras after initiation.He was arrested in 1916 when he took sufficient loads of work.This time leader Jadu Gopal Mukhopadhyay and Nalini Kar used to see him for discussion.Later Govt sent him to intern in Mahisadal in Midnapore.He came to Calcutta in 1920 after being released on 1919.Here he expired. His followers opened a library in his name in 1920 named "saraswati Library and Saraswati Press in 1929.
