309. Nalini Guha (1905-1989)

Nalini Guha was born in Faridpur in 1905. He graduted himself from City College of Calcutta. He also passed BL examination.He was admitted in Medical College also but did not continue.While he was in teens he joined the Freedom Movement and came in contact with the revolutionaries. He joined in "Jugantar". He suffered imprisonment for some time for joining non-cooperation movement in 1921. He joined in "Santisena" founded by Purna Das of Madaripur. He was acquainted with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and got his affection.He joined in Forward Bloc, from the very beginning, when it was founded by Netaji in 1939. At the time of his death he was the Chairman of the Party and a member of Central Committee.While he was a student in Medical College , he was arrested in DI rule in 1932 and remained in prison till 1938. He was again arrested in 1940 when Forward Bloc was declared illegal.

Nalini Das was born in Barisal in 1910. He got imprisonment for joining strike in a students' life. He went underground when arrest warren was issued in his name as a convict of Machabazar Conspiracy Case while he was reading  in I.Sc. But was arrested during underground on a plea of attempt to Murder of Calcutta Police Commissioner, Tegart. He and Phani Dasgupta escaped from Hijli jailin 1931. She stayed in a house at Chandannagar along with others when police surrounded them. He, revolutionary Dinesh Majumdar, and Biren Roy fought with the police for four hours. Police Commissioner of Chandannagar Kiu died in that fight. But again he was fighting with the police when he was in a house at Calcutta in 1933 and was arrested. He was sent gto Andaman for life imprisonment.He was declared as a very dangerous revolutionary when in 1938, all the  state prisoners were released excepting 30 including him and detained upto 1946. after release he took membership of Communist Party and to Barisal after partition. He was engaged in Peasants movementand was arrested in 1950 but released in 1956 at the time UF ministry. He was also fore front leader of the democratic movement ushered in East Pakistan. He went underground when the Ayub Khan misistry declared imergency in 1959.  He worked as underground workers upto July 1971 as a soldier in the salvation army. His main work is " Swadhinata Sangrame Dwipantarer Bandi" where he described his life of imrisonment for 23 years and remained underground for 20/21 years.
