287. Nani Bhattacharya (1917-1993). 288. Nanda Kumar De (1918-1943)

Nani Bhattacharya was born in 1917 in Kashimbazar of Barahampur. At the beginning of 1930s he joined Anushilan Samity. He was a leader in peasants and Trade Union front. He one of the founders of RSP in 1940. He was imprisoned for five years for participating in freedom movement. He was elected as MP in 1989 and 1991.

Nanda Kumar De  was a soldier in the the 4th security battalion in Madras Coast security fort. The marshal police arrested him and 12 others when a rebellion was seen to spread there.He and 8 others were sentenced to death by the order of the Marshal court. In their last breadth they shouted "Bandemataram", Jaihind".
