337. Nirmala Roy, Sanyal (1917 - ?), 338.Nishikanta Gangopadhyay (1885-1978)

Nirmala Roy Sanyal was born in Faridpur in 1917.Her father, even being a zaminder, had to suffer a lot in prison for joining revolutionary work. She came in contact with the revolutionary leaders like Ramesh Acharya and Pratul Gangulee and became member of RSP.She was elected president in the female sub-committee of All Bengal Student Federation i 1939.She remained in Presidency Jail as a prison for three years since 6th April, 1942 to prevent her from joining Quit India movement. She used to give pleasure to other prisoners by singing patriotic songs.She was released in 1945 and devoted herself in removing illiteracy in slum area of North Calcutta.She was married with Bhabesh Chndra Sanyal in 1945.  

Nishikanta Gangopadhyay (1885-1978) was born in Barisal in 1885. He was initiated by Swami Prajnananda Saswati, Founder of Sankar Math of Barisal, in Politics.  He became Acharya of the Math after the death of Swamiji. He joined non-cooperation movement in 1921.He was elected chief commander in the movement of Satyagraha of Barisal in 1930. He remained confined in Baxa and Deuli prison for 7 years. He was also imprisoned for three years during 1942. He was a bachelor.
