365. Prithvi Sing Azad, Baba

Prthvi Sing wrote an autobiography where he described vividly the thrilling story of his life.

More details: The book tells the absorbing story of how Azad escaped abroad to elude the police and joined the Gadhar party in America, and how, on return, was implicated in the Lahore Conspiracy Case and sentenced to death. Later the death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment in Andaman’s Cellular Jail, from where he was later brought to jail in India. Azad’s secret journey to Russia is an adventure in itself. Azad has narrated in this autobiography the drama of his life, replete with excitement and adventures, with becoming modesty, but without affectation. The writing shows his equable temperament, balanced judgment and absence of bitterness. This book will help one to understand a life of tremendous courage and character of revolutionary dedication.

Prithvi Sing Azad was convicted in Lahore Conspiracy case and was imprisoned for long time. He attempted to fled away by jumping from the train on the way from Madras Jail  to Calcutta but was caught. He again jumped  to run away by jumping from the train while going to Nagpur jail from Rajmundi Jail by train and this time he became successful. During WWI the Indian soldiers were sending to different places of the world within and outside India in 1915 , he was sent to Andaman but he fled away unnoticed to Japan.
