274. Dhirendranath Sen (1902-1961). 275. Dhirendranarayan Mukhopadhyay (1899-1963)

Dhirendranath Sen was born in 1902 in Faridpur.He was a prominent politician, a journalist, a constitutional expert, and a professor. He was inspired in revolutionary thoughts while he was reading in Presidency College. He actively participated the first students' strike. He took journalism as his profession at the inspiration of Shyam Sundar Chakrabarty. He became renowned by writing the main editorial in different famous dailies. He had to go to jail several times on the plea of anti-Govt. activities. He was also attached with Trade Union movement. He stood on the side of the workers in 1948 leaving his service earning Rs. 1800/- p.m.in Amrita Bazar Patrika.He was a member of AICC and General Secretary of Indo-Soviet Cultural Association and West Bengal Peace Foundation. He was President of Indo-Soviet Friendship Association for days.He visited USSR in 1956 at the invitation of the then Russian Govt. His Important works are, Whither India, Paradox of Freedom, Revolution of Consent,From Raj to Swaraj.

Dhirendranarayan Mukhopadhyay was born in 1899 in Hooghly.  He joined Non-cooperation movement just after the Jallianwallabag massacre. He was the leader for abolition of Tax collection. He had to go jail for several times.He was the Chief Whip of Congress Party.
