264.Debendranath Tagore (1817-1905), 265. Daulatunnesa Khatun

Daulatunnesa Khatun  was a freedom fighter, a good writer, and a social worker, born in Sonatola, Bagura. She was married with Dr. Hafizul Rahman of Gaibandha (Rangpur) in very early age. Though female education among the Muslim Community was not in vogue, her parents arranged for her education. She joined the rally of Non-cooperation movement in 1930. During civil disobedience movement , she and a few organised "Gaibandha Mahila Samity".She was then 14 years of age but she became the secretary of the Samity. Mahamaya Bhattacharya took the presidency and Dakshabala became the Vice-President.This Samity began to organise meetings, rally, picketting and publicity for joining 144 Cr,pc. The meeting convened by her became full to the brim as it was convened by an orthodox young lady. After a few days her husband was away from the locality.She conducted all sorts of activities inspite of several oppositions.At last police arrested her from phoolchari village and sent to the jail of Berhampore, Rajsahi and Presidency. When the movements subsided , she started her lesson and sat for B,A. eam.She established orphan society for the orphans in 1943 during famine.She was elected as a member of constiuent assembly from East Pakistan in 1954. She was a good orator.She visited China in 1956 as a delegate from Pakistan.
