217. Jitendranath Kushari, 218. Jitesh Chandra Lahiri (1899-1967)

Jitendranath Kushari was born in Dhaka. He was attached with Revolutionary organisation since he was a student. He was arrested in D.I rule of India in Noakhali and was interned in Khulna.He was released in 1919. He returned in his own village in 1921 and established "Sidheshwari National School" . He was imprisoned for joining non-cooperation movement. He was again imprisoned in 1930 and 1932 for civil joining disobedience. He was elected as Chairman of Dhaka district Board in 1937. He was imprisoned for joining quit India movement.He joined as a delegate in World peace conference held in Santiniketan and Sebagram in 1948 and 1949. He came to West Bengal to live  permanently in 1950. His important works are "Pather Sandhane", "Gandhiji Smarane", He became an editor in "swaraj", a Calcutta magazine.

Jitesh Chandra Lahiri was born in Rajshahi (at present Bangladesh). He joined Anusilan Samity at his younger age being inspired by his elder brother, Pravas Lahiri. He  was imprisoned, at the first instance, in Bhagalpur for he fought with English police with arms. For his revolutionary works he he passed 18 years of his life in different jails of Assam, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh. His first publication "Biplabi bir Nalini Bagchi" was banned by the then Govt.
