Dinesh Chandra Majumdar was born in Basirhat, 24-Parganas. His joined revolution with the help of his neighbour revolutionary elderly Charan Sen ( died by bomb blast during an attempt of murder of Tagart). He was a colleague of Bagha Jatin during WWI. He was one of the three deputed to assassinate Tagart but was arrested when he attempted to attack. In trial he got life imprisonment. In 1932, under his leadership, attempt was made to assassinate editor Watson of Statesman Patrika.The police Commissioner Quin was murdered by his shot.He went with his companion to underground. The house where they lived at Cornwallis Street was attacked by the police and he, Jagadananda, and Nalini became wounded and arrested. In trial Dinesh was hanged and the other two got life imprisonment.
Dukaribala Devi was born in 1877 in Birbhum. Her husband , Phani Bhushan Chakrabarty, was living in the same village. Her residence was used as a centre for reading books banned by the British Govt.Prof. Jyotish Ghosh used to come to the place as a "mastermashai", also used to come Bipin Bihari Ganguly, in whose name arrest warrant had been issued. One day her nephew, Nibaran Ghatak, gave her seven pistols and asked her to keep them in a secret place. These pistols were stolen from Rada Company. In January, 1917, the police surrounded her house, searched her house and found those pistols. But they could not make her confess the name of the person who had given her those pistals.The village lady keeping her small child at home went to the Thana with the police. She had to undergo 2 years rigorous imprisonment and was released in Dec. 1918. In the revolutionary group she was known as "masima".
