Nirmalnalini was the first female Satyagrahi of Nadia. She participated in Civil Disobedience movement and organised Mahila Samity in a rented house leaving the govt. house lived by his husband, Prof. Ramendranath of Krishnanagar College. She had undergone rigorous imprisonment for participating in Civil Disobedience movement in 1931and went to different jails such as Krishnanagar, Berhampur,Alipore,Central Jail, Hijli Special.
Nirmal Bhattachyarya was born in Faridpur in 1896.He was a meritorious student and an important leader of Peace Movement. He was a Professor of Scottish Church College and then in Calcutta University.While he was Secretary of Bengal Provincial Congress, he represented the all party conference to frame Draft Constitution of India at the request of Jawaharlal Nehru. He was a founder Jt. Secretary of All Bengal College and University Teachers Association (ABCUTA). He took important role in the Peace Movement of World. He joined the first "Asian Relations Conference" in 1947. He was in the first team to go to China in 1953. He as a member an MLC (now abolished) of West Bengal for long time.
