331. Nirmal Chandra Ghosh ( ? - 1987), 332. Nirmal Chandra Chandra (1888-1953)

Nirmal Chandra Ghosh was born in Barisal. He joined in Non-cooperation movement in 1921. He was Secretary of Barisal District Congress.He was imprisoned for 1930-38. He started to live with the Lodhas in Jhargram and work among them. His remarkable work was the foundation of "Santi colony" in Garhshalbani.He had done much work there.

Nirmal Chandra Chandra was born in Calcutta in 1888.He was an advocate of Calcutta High Court.Later he joined in Solicitors Farm of his grand father. He joined the Swarajya Dal as a colleague of Deshabandhu Chittaranjan Das and became one of its leader.He was member of Legislative assembly in 1923-26. He was one among the "Big Five" of Bengal. He contributed much wealth to the service of the Country and devoted himself completely.He contributed 50,000.00 rupees in Tilak Fund.He always donated money whenever Deshabandhu needed for work. He worked among the workers of Gas Company, Postoffice workers, Truck workers, Music and drama workers. Once he was President Bengal Provincial Congress nand member of Prliament 1926-1930.He became Mayor of Calcutta in 1952.His house in Wellington Street had been glorified with the footsteps of Gandhiji, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sarojini Naidu, Rajendra Prasad, Moulana Abul Kalam Ajad, Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, Bipin Behari Gangulee etc. He helped sisir Bhaduri with much money for his proposed Natysala. He was connected with many literature magazine as a intellectual.
