385. Nani Gopal Mukhopadhyay (1895-?).
Nani Gopal Mukhopadhyay was a follower of Jyotish Chandra Ghosh, a revolutionary of Jugantar Dal.In February, 1911, he was deputed to assassinate CID officer Denham but by mistake he had thrown a bomb in another car and was caught while he was going to escape. In trial he was punished for 14 years RI and was sent to Andaman Cellular Jail. But joining the strike and fasting in Jail he was suspended for many days putting chains in his hands. He was released in 1920 and he joined first of all in Congress and then Trade Union Movement. He took a service in Jamshedpur Tata Factory. There he tried to organise the Crain Drivers who observed the first strike in the factory. He was driven from that place.He came to Calcutta and joined Communist Party. He died before India became free.
