362. Purnananda Dasgupta (1902-1989), 363. Purnendu Kishore Sengupta (1895- 1978)

Purnananda was born in Bikrampur, Dakha in 1902. His father died in his childhood. He was being bought up in maternal uncle.He came to Dhaka in 1917 and became a member of Anushilan Samity in 1920 while reading in Dhaka College.He was first imprisoned in 1924 under Bengal Ordinance. The history of his life in prison was long exciting. He along with Niranjan Ghosal, Satinath, and Haripada De cross the wall of the central jail and fled away from the central jail.He was one of the victims of Inter Provincial Conspiracy case and Titagarh Conspiracy Case. The British Govt. punished him for 58.5 years in jail.But he had to suffer a period of 23 years in jail. He was released before independence in 1946. He was president through out his life in the Council of Anushilan Samity.

Purnendu Kishore was born in Dhaka in 1895. His father was a lawyer in Sylhet. He was leader of Peasant and workers organisation. He joined in Sylhet Anushilan Samity in his early days and joined in non-cooperation movement . He joined Abhoy Ashram in Dhaka in 1922 and took leadership in the service of flood stricken people in Syllhet and Cachar in 1929. He was imprisoned in 1930 for joining Salt Satyagraha and was again arrested in in 1932. After release he formed a Mahila Samity in Sylhet.He organised the peasants of Bhanubil of Manipur when they were tortured and performed Satyagraha.He was jailed for two and half years for this but the Assam govt. had to form a rule for  their safety.He took the main role in the Industrial Exhibition in Sylhet when Golden Jubilee of Sylhet Congress was held there. He served the victims of WWII of the refugees of Burma.He became AICC meber at this time..He was confined in Jail for 3 years during Quit India movement.   He was elected as a member of Constituent assembly in 1946.He devoted himself for the welfare of the workers of Tea Garden though he remained in East Pakistan. He was in Jail during India-Pakistan war in 1965 in Sylhet.
