330. Nirmal Kumar Sen (1898-1932)





Nirmal Kumar Sen was born in Chittagong. He joined secret revolutionary organisation giving up his study in Medical College. He went to Burma in 1920 for collecting arms and ammunition for the revolution. He also joined in non-cooperation movement in 1920. He remained in the police custody for three years in 1924. He fought against the British force in Chittagong Armoury Raid and also in Jalalabad hills. After two years when he was in the house of Sabitri  Chakrabarty in Dhalghat, military surrounded the house. In that secret place Surya Sen and Pritilata were also present and they escaped safely.The captain Camarun died in fire exchanges by  Apurba Sen, the company-an of Nirmal sen. But after some time Nirmal Sen also died in the fight.      
The raiders were members of revolutionary groups believing in armed uprisings for Indian independence to liberate India from British colonial rule. The group was led by Masterda (Surya Sen), and included Ganesh Ghosh,Lokenath Bal, Nirmal Sen, Ambika Chakrobarty, Naresh Roy, Sasanka Datta, Ardhendu Dastidar, Harigopal Bal (Tegra), Tarakeshwar Dastidar,Ananta Singh, Jiban Ghoshal, Anand Gupta, Pritilata WaddedarKalpana DuttaBinod Bihari ChowdhurySubodh Roy and many others.
