Article from the January 1911 issue of Modern Review on students selected by the National Council Education, Bengal to study in the U.S. Includes an image of the students awarded the National Council scholarship: Surendra Nath Ball (Michigan State University), Bejoy Kumar Sarkar (Harvard), Jatindranath Seth (Harvard), Dhirendra Kumar Sarkar (Yale), Narendranath Das Gupta (Yale), and Hiralal Roy (Harvard).





Before completion of 12 years of age Jibantara Halder, born in Calcutta and got M.Sc.began to contact Anusilan Samity (founded in 1902) with the assistance of his maternal uncle Jatindranath Seth.He joined Anusilan Samity after some time.As a result he had to remain confined in villages.He was a direct witness of the wave that had flown in 1905's through out Calcutta and Bengal. He was a research fellow of Indian Cultivation of Science, a journalist and a litterateurs. He wrote a short informative documentary book titled, " Anusilan Samity-r Itihas" in 1951 and at the end of his life he wrote "The role of Anusilan Samity in Indian Freedom Struggle". He mentioned revolutionary history of Bengal in few chapters. He came in close contact with Jatindranath Bandyopadhyay, Jadugopal Mukhopadhyay, and Pulin Behari Das. He observed them from a close distance and wrote about them.He was active through out  his life with good health.He was felicitated by many organisations.    

Jibanlal Chattopadhyay was  born in Dhaka in 1896. He got admitted in Bangabasi College but ended his student life by joining in politics.He was arrested in connection with Dhaka Conspiracy Case but was released Scott free without any prove of involvement. He remained underground for participating Indo-German conspiracy case in 1916 and became free in 1920. Later he joined Swarajya Dal of Deshabandhu Chittaranjan Das. He was arrested in 1923 and was sent to the jail of Burma.He was released in 1928 due to his ill health. He took the leadership in the civil disobedience movement of 1930 and became a secretary of Bengal Provincial Congress.He remained in jail for 1930-33. He was attracted in the movement of Communist Party in coming in contact of with M.N.Roy. He left Congress in 1940 and joined in  League of Radical Congress. He left the league for difference of opinion and joined actively in Democratic Vanguard of Manabendra nath Roy. But after some time he left it and formed a "Radical Democratic Party.".
