816. Sabitri Devi, 817. Sabitriprasanna Chattopadhyay (1898-1965),

Sabitri Devi was born in Chittagong. She and her only son Ramkrishna Chakrabarty gave shelter to Surya Sen in a place named Dhalghat. The most faithful followers, Nirmal Sen, Apurba Sen, Pritilata Waddedar, of Surya Kanta Sen, was on underground at that time. The military surrounded the house on 12 th June 1932. A fierce fighting started. Nirmal Sen and Apurba Sen died by police bullets and Capt. Cameroon died by bullets of the revolutionaries. She and her son was jailed for 4 years due to giving shelter to the revolutionaries. They were given 3rd class status. They were inhumanly treated in Midnapore Central Jail. The TB patient Ramkrishna was chained with iron chain. The mother Sabitri Devi was not given permission of visiting her son by the authorities. At last the mother was brought to see her dead son. She was not scared even after being released.



Sabitri Prasanna Chatopadhyay was born in Nadia. He was known as patriotic poet. He joined Non Cooperation movement while studying in M.A.He was jailed several times for political reason.His  important works are Ahitagni, Atasi, Raktalekha etc.
