567. Makhanlal Sen (1881-1965), 568. Maniklal Sen

Makhanlal Sen was born in Sonarang, Dhaka.He was a revolutionary and a journalist. He went to Dhaka while he was reading in M.A. class and he became in charge of Anushilan Samity after the arrest of Pulin Behari Das. In 1910 when arrest warrant was issued for him in charge of Dhaka Conspiracy Case, he went to Calcutta. In 1915 he was arrested from Technaf area of Chittagong. After being released in 1920, he came to Calcutta and joined the Special Conference of Congress. He took active role by the support of Gandhiji. He became editor of Anmanda Bazar Patrika for small period. He opposed the Round Table Conference in London and took the leadership of picketing against the conference when he was jailed for six months in 12.11.1930. He showed an example by writing inspiring articles in "Bharat" patrika  during Quit india movement in 1942. The magazine created anger of the ruler and he went underground. Soon he became arrested and was interned . He was the founder of National school at Sonarang in Dhaka. As per the report of sedition Committee this school had strong influence over the students and responsible of many political Dacoities.


Maniklal Sen was born in Murshidabad. He became martyr by his demise in indefinite hunger strike in Banaras jail in 1930.
