565. Makhanlal Ghosh 1901-1919), 566.Makhanlal Roychoudhury (1900-1962)

Makhanlal Ghosh was born in 24-Parganas.Police sent the 15 year old boy sent him to court on the plea of being in contact with political dacoity. He was kept in different jails and ultimately sent him to a unhealthy village and kept him intern. He died for extreme torture of the police and of neglect of the Govt.


Makhanlal Roychoudhury was born in Noakhali.He was an outstanding historian, litterateur, Professor and Social Activist. His name was struck off from rolls of the College due to his participation in Non-Cooperation movement launched by Gandhiji. He had done research work under Jadunath Sarkar for some time. He went several times to Al-Aaj Haq University for several times with Ghosh Travelling Fellowship in 1944. He became the head of the Dept. of Islamic history in C.U.
