503. Bhupati Majumdar (1890-1973), 504. Bhupal Chandra Basu (1902-1981)


Bhupati Majumdar was born in Hooghly. He was initiated at an early age in revolutionary work by Biplabi Bagha Jatin.He was arrested in 1906 for participating in Anti-Partition of Bengal. He was present in "Sivaji Utsab" held in Calcutta. He joined in Jadavpur Bangiya National Education Bureau in 1907. He was sent to America in 1911 for making contacts with the revolutionaries of America. But he came back from Europe for economic stringency. He joined in Swarajya Dal of Deshabandhu in 1923. After ome time he was elected Secretary of Bengal Provincial Congress Committee. He had to live in prison for the charge of having contacts with Chittagang Armoury Raid. He was also imprisoned for participating in Quit India Movement.He worked with Neli Sengupta in East Bengal.After returning to Calcutta he joined the cabinet of Dr. Prafulla Chandra Ghosh and then dr. bidhan Chandra Roy.He retired from politics in 1957. he was a bachelor through out his life.


Bhupal Chandra Basu was born in Dhaka. He started his revolutionary career after coming in contact with the revolutionary Anil Roy.He was a student of Calcutta Medical College.He was convicted in Dalhousie Square case and was punished for life imprisonment in Andaman.After release he joined Forward Bloc and then in Socialist PartyHe was the president of West Bengal Sanjukta Socialist Party. He remained bachelor through out his life.
