704. Sachindralal Kargupta (1905-1975), 705. Sreemati Sachi Sen (1918-1963)

Sachindralal Kargupta was born in Barisal. He came in contact with Sankar Math, established by Prangananda Saraswati and entered in revolutionary work. He was avolunteer in Calcutta Congress in 1928.He was first imprisoned in the case of Machuya Bazar conspiracy case in 1929. He came out of the Midnapore jail by breaking it along with Dinesh Majumdar and Sushil Dasgupta on 8.12.1931. But he was arrested   and transported to Andaman.He participated in hunger strike to protest against torture on the prisoners in Andaman jail.he was released in 1945 and left the all connections with Communist party in 1946 by issuing a statement. He was connected with South Calcutta Congress from 1946 to 1949 and became member of AICC. But being discontented he disconnected all relations with politics at the end of  1949 on account of police firing on the rally of hungry people of Coochbehar. He established a Gram SebaSangha in 1949 on a land at Habra gifted by Local Hazi and passed his life by doing work in this Seba sangha. He also worked among the Regugees in 1949.


Sachi Sen, Sreemati, was born in Chittagong. Her father was working in a non-govenment Organisation in Rangoon. When she was a student of Class IX in Rangoon Bengal Academy, she joined in Jhansi Rani Bahini at the call of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and took the training in nursing. She became a favourite person in the eyes of Lakshmiswaminathan and Netaji by her own efficiency. She took the responsibility of nursing alone to all the wounded soldiers of Azad Hind Fauz.
