684. Lalit Mohan Barman (1891-1969), 685. Lalit Mohan Singha (1289-1362 Beng.)

Lalit Mohan was born in Coomilla. He participated at his early age in revolutionary work as a member of Jugantar Dal. He was an assistant secretary of Sub-divisional Congress Committee. He along  with Chittotosh Bardhan formed a big volunteer force of Congress. He was arrested when he was conducting the Assam-Bengal Railway Strike. Later he was jailed during participation of non-cooperation movement in Tripura. He was leader of Peasants Movement  and non-payment of tax movement. After the death of Deshabandhu Chittaranjan Das, he joined in Swarajya Dal and arrested for political reason. Then he was attracted by ideas if Marxian Socialism.


Lalit Mohan Singh started his political life by working in Anushilan Samity. He participated in anti-partition of Bengal. He joined in Non-Cooperation movement in 1920 and he followed the path Chittaranjan in Satyagraha of Tarakeshwar. He was jailed for two years for joining Salt Satyagraha in Tamluk.He joined in Forward Bloc but remained in Congress. He was beaten and arrested during hoisting flag in Wellington Square.
