Nazrul in Cinema

At the middle of 1931, Nazrul entered in film-line. He played the role of Narad  in " Bhakta Druba" directed by Girish Chandra Ghosh when the film was developing from "silent picture" to "talking" picture.Satyendra nath De and Narul took roles in this book. Nazrul was also the music director of this rfilm.Nityananda Ghatak took the role of "Bishnu". Pioneer film company was the   produce of this book and it was released on 1st Jan 1934. seventeen songs out of eighteen was constructed by Nazrul in this film. Nazrul sung one song as duet performar.
In 1933, Nazrul made a contact with the film company as a music director.
Nazrul was given a Welcome address in Albert Hall of Calcutta.
Subhas Chandra Basu delvered a lecture welcoming Nazrul the picture, Dhruba, was released on 1st Jan 1934 in which 17 songs out of 18 was constructed by Nazrul.The rest one was constructed by Girish Chandra Ghosh.nazrul sung 3 songs in his voice and another as a duet out of 18 songs.
Nazrul made a contact with Pioneer Company as a film director. But as he could not attend the scheduled programme due to the death of his pet, a guinea-pig, he was penalized for breach of contact.
His lyrical drama, Aleya, was staged in public stage on 3rd Paus 1338. In this drama a persson acted in the role of the poet. But one day he could attend, in his absence Nazrul played the role and made the audience bewildered.
His two other pictures, Bidyapati and Sapure was staged on and from 27th May 1939 as a shadow picture. On 15th Dec 1929, Nazrul was given a a hearty felicitation in Albert hall under the presidency of Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy where many important persons and litterateurs were present. Acharya  Prafulla chandra Roy spoke highly about Nazrul in his presidential address.

After this Nazrul was offered a golden inkpot and a golden pen with the felicitation paper wrapped in silver cascade.
