Mohan Bagan Football team in a play ground at Calcutta scored six goals against a team of England. A football player of Dhaka, Rabi Bose did this wonderful job. Nazrul in excitement of joy came to Dhaka direct from the play ground along with the editor of Kallol, Dinesh Ranjan Das and Nripendra Krishna Chattopadhyay, in June 1928. They were accorded welcome by Buddhadev Basu and Achintya Kumar Sengupta at the Dhaka Station. Though he had come suddenly to Dhaka, he passed a few days in Dhaka. At first he stayed in the house of Kazi Motayar Hosen. This time he was acquainted with Prativa Some
( later on married to Buddhadev Basu) , Surendra Nath Moitra,Principal of Dhaka College, and his daughter Uma Moitra alias Notan. They developed a sweet relation in music.
Nazrul came to learn about Ranu from Dilip Kumar Roy and she took her first lesson in Nazrul Geeti from Dilip Roy. Nazrul met her in their ancestral's house at Banagram this time . Once he came in a horse driven car to their house at Banagram which was described by Prativa Basu;
Nazrul became close with the family and Ranu at his first sight and they too took him as their near and dear one. On the first floor they had musical round with their harmonium. They enjoyed songs after songs, tea after tea, and betel-box with full of betel.
In the night Nazrul wrote the song, "amaar konkule aaj bhirlo tari, e kon sonar gany"
He taught the song to Nazrul in the next morning. The usual sign of joy of Nazrul was his shout "De gorur ga Dhuiye", was heard off and on. On the third day nazrul wrote another song, "Eto jal o kajal chokhe ke anlo bal"
So long Nazrul was in Dhaka, he came everyday from Bardhaman house to Banagram either by horse driven car or on foot.
On 7th Ashar 1335, in the house of Ranu Nazrul wrote, "Matir urdhe gaan geye phere, swarger jata pakhi"
but the youths of Banagram could not take it easily that being a Muslim, Nazrul used to go every day to a Hindu lady, Ranu Som and in one night they attacked Nazrul with Lathis etc But Nazrul was not only a singer, he was also a military person. He took hold of the lathis and drove them away from the spot. They ran away immediately.
Kazi Motayer Hosen had described the incident in a humorous way;
Lastly Nazrul gifted the cane stick snatched from the miscreants to Kazi Motayer Hosen who kept the stick carefully.
Nazrul taught the following songs to Ranu Som during his visit to Dhaka.
"Jao Jao Tumi phire ei muchino Ankhi", Charite Paran Nahi Chay", Andhar rate kego Ekela", "ami ki duke lo grihe raba".Nazrul also helped her in getting programme in "All India Radio".
Nazrul also got acquainted with Uma Moitra, a beautiful young girl with talent of painting and playing Sitar, daughter of Surendra Moitra, other than Phazil Tunnesa and Ranu Som.
কবি নজরুলকে মারধরের পর ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের কিছু ছাত্র তাকে উদ্ধার করে মুসলিম হলে নিয়ে আসে। উদ্ধারকারীদের প্রধান নেতা ছিলেন আতাউর রহমান খান। তিনি পরে আওয়ামী লীগের শীর্ষ নেতা ও মুখ্যমন্ত্রী হয়েছিলেন।
