11. Ananga Mohan Dam (1890 - 1978)

Ananga Mohan was born in Srilet in 1890. He was an important leader of the Congress, a good orator, and a learned man. He was a student of Presidency College in the period when Subhas Chandra ws also reading in the same College. One day Prof. Oten uttered abusing words to the Indian Students for which he was man handled by the students of the College on the corridor. Ananga Mohan was the first person in this move followed by Subhas Chandra Basu.As a result their names from the roles of the College was struck off. He remained underground in his village for many years.
He was elected in the central Management body in 1946. He took the leading role in the movement of division of Cachar District. e was arrested during 2nd World War and remained confined during war period. He was released at the end of the war.
