877. Hari Vishnu Kamath, 878. Harish Chandra Mukhopadhyay (1824-1861)


Hari Vishnu Kamath was born in Madras Presidency. He joined Indian Civil Service in 1930. As a officer he was straight forward and against present system. As a result he was always in conflict with the British Officers. When he wanted to join National Movement in 1937, Jawaharlal Nehru did not approve but Subhas Chandra Bose asked him to join Congress. Whence Subhas became his learned advisor and Political mentor. He joined Congress on 26th Jan 1936. He became personal secretary of Subhas Chandra Bose being elected as President of Congress in 1938. He was appointedas secretary of Parliamentary Coordination Committee. When in 1938 Subhas chandra formed a National planning Committee, he became its secretary and Jawaharlal its President. When in May 1939 sbhas chandra formed Forward Bloc he was appointed its Organising Secretary. He was jail with RI for one year when he worked against the decision of the war. He was again jailed in 1942. When Forward Bloc was declared illegal on 21st June 1942, he was arrested and detained without trial upto 1945. He became member of Constituent Assembly in 1946. He opposed special facilities to be given to the President and Prime Minister of Kashmir.He was a tremendous critic of Kashmir to be raised in Unitaed Nation. He was elected as an Independent candidate to the Loksabha in 1955. He was also elected as a member of PSP to the Loksabha in 1962 and 1967. He was a member of administrative Reform committee in1966. He went to Taiwon to enquire about Netaji's socalled death in Plane crash in Taihaku.


Harish Chandra Mukherjee (Bengaliহরিশ্চন্দ্র মুখোপাধ্যায়) (1824 – 1861), was an Indian journalist and patriot, who fought tooth and nail for the indigo cultivators (and against the indigo planters) and forced the government to bring about changes. He was a brave journalist and patriotic. He portrayed in his Hindoo Patriot Patrika the oppression caused to Indigo cultivators. He published regularly their wretched condition in Tattwabodhini Patrika He was a supporter of Indigo Rebellion (1859-62)  The essays written by him and dwarakanath gangopadhyay created enlightenment amongst the intellectuals . He had to suffer for supporting the Indigo cultivators. he became pennyless and died at an early age of 37 only.
