Somen Chanda was born in Dhaka. He was a progressive writer and a trde unio leader. He was a pioneer writer in Dhaka Pragati Sangha and was a Marxist activist. He studied in Dhaka Midford Medical College. A conference was held in Dhaka against fascism organised by Soviet Surhid Samity. He was conducting a rally of workers of E B Railaway. But he was attacked by some miscreants of an opposition camp and murdered him.
Saikat Ali Usmani went to Soviet russia along with 1 lac other members, when Khilafat movement was going, to get support for Anti British Movement.This is known as Muhajidin movement91920-1923). He was one of the leader of this movement.He was jailed for 4 years. He was also jailed for Kanpur Conspiracy Case (1924) and for bMeerut Conspiracy case for long time.
