209. Chaya Guha (1921- ?)
Chaya Guha was born in Dhaka in 1921. She was living in her father's residence at Burma since her childhood. he was inspired by the thoughts of Vivekananda from her girl hood in the service of human being.She got information of the freedom movement in 1932 in India from Burma. She was in the imagination of coming to Bengal and to participate in the freedom movement. During WWII, a War fund was going to be raised in her school for help. Chaya with some of her friends opposed this attempt against the headmistress . After reading upto class VIII she she came to Calcutta in 1940. Lila Roy was one of the leader of Forward Bloc at that time. She was acquainted with Lila Roy and joined in that party. In 1941, there was bombing in Burma and being afraid, people from Burma was coming to India. Chaya was giving them service in the port and Howrah station. She joined in 1942 quit India movement and joined in different illegal gatherings. She remained in jail as a prisoner on 15th Aug. She wasreleased in 1945. She went to Noakhali in riot stricken place to give relief . She engaged herself in the service of Refugees after India won freedom 1947.
