435. Bijoy Chandra Roy (1897-1982), 436. Bijoy Modak (1906-1994)

Bijoy Chandra Roy was born in Bandvilla, Jessore in 1897. He was a follower of Gandhism. He was arrested in 1921 for participating in Non-Cooperation movement. He remained in prison for 1927-30 for joining the historical Bandvilla Satyagraha. He was also arrested in Civil Disobedience movement in 1932. He remained East Pakistan after Independence though he was invited to come to India.He was a member of the cabinet in East Pakistan.He established an English High School in his own village. He was well connected with Subhas Chandra Basu and other political leaders.  

Bijoy Modak was in a Congress minded family in Hooghly in 1906. He suffered imprisonment in young life for participating in Non-Cooperation movement in 1921. He was also jailed in 1930 1nd 1936. He was a colleague of Prafulla Chandra Sen, Atulya Ghosh, Saroj Mukherjee etc.Later on he joined in Communist Party of India.  He was elected M.P. in Hooghly Constituency from 1967-1977.   .
