Bijoy Singh Nahar was born in Ajimgunge City of Murshidabad. He graduated himself from St. Xavier's College. He had well connection with the revolutionaries specially with Bipin Behari Gangulee. he kept secretly the revolvers of the Party in his own house. Once he was instructed by the police to stay outside Bengal. He joined student movement in 1930-31.He was a member of Pradesh Congress Committee from 1928 to 1977. He was arrested in 1932 for participating in Non-Cooperation movement. He was detained in 1942-45 during Quit India movement. he was an MLC in 1946-47 and 1952-57. He was elected MLA in 1957-62 and 1967-77. Then he became the President of Pradesh Congree Committee. He was a minister in the cabinets of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, Prafulla Ghosh and Prafull sen. As a member in Janata Party he became an MP and one of the secretaries of Central Committee in 1977-80. He was attached with Calcutta Corporation since 1930. He was awarded Tamra Patra and got political pension. he was the leader of India delegates in ILO at Geneva in 1966. he was attached with many social organisation and also with jaina religious organisation since his early age.he retired from politics in 1977 and passed a peaceful life giving up politics. There is a great Hall in his uncle's name at Calcutta known asw Kumar Singh Hall where great conferences of Congress Party were held.
His works are "Mahabir Bani, (translated in 1985), "ja dekhechi, Ja korechi" (1990).
