Saraju Gupta was born in Calcutta. Originally they were inhabitants of Sonarang, Dhaka. she was out and out Congress worker. She was connected with Gandria Mahila Samity from 1924. She joined in Calcutta congress of 1928 as a representative of Dhaka.She was arrested in Narayanganj in 1930 while picketing in front of a foreign At this time the jail authority of Dhaka was forced to agree the right of cooking of widow ladies. She was elected as a director of Dhaka district after the arrest of Gandhiji in 1932. She conducted a rally with some volunteers defying 144 Cr pc. The mountain police tried to disperse them and surrounded them.But she proceeded undauntedly with raised ntional flag. At last she was arrested with her volunteers.
Saraju Bala Sen was born in Bikrampur, Dhaka. She learnt swing Khaddar for promoting in Gandaria Silpashram in 1921. She joined in Salt Satyagraha as a member of satyagrahi Sevika dal in 1930. She again participated in Civil Disobedience movement in 1932 and was arrested, She used to picketing with the females of Sankar Mahila Sibir of Bikrampur in Union Bench Court. As a result some court and some liquor shop were closed. She conducted movement of non payment of security tax. She and her associates arranged 1st conference of State Mahila Sammelan of Bikrampur. Just after the beginning of Conference , police encircled the meeting and arrested 95 females of which seven were jailed. In 1933 an unlawful Congress was held under the chair person of Neli Sengupta.She joined in this Congress as a representative Dhaka and was arrested.After release she again participated in civil disobedience movement and was jailed in Berhampur jail.
