Sanat Chattopadhyay passed his life in prison for a long period for 1. Sukia street conspiracy case of 1930, 2. Dalhousie Bomb Case in the same year, 3. murder case of Garlic in 1933.He remained confined in the jail upto the end of WWII from 1939. He then joined in Forward Bloc but at the time of his death he was a member of Congress.
Sanat Dutta was born in Nadia. He came in contact with thre revolutionaries while he was reading in school. He was jailed in 1930 for joining Civil Disobedience Movement. He was one who formed Communist Party in Howrah. In 1942 he attacked Bantra Thana on Belilious Road, Howrah in Quit India Movement. He had a fight with British Police and was arrested. Expecting that he had a connection with Ajad Hind Fauz, he was brought to Lalkella, Delhi. He was released after the end of WWII in 1945. He, taking risk of his life, went in the riot of Sadar Baxi Lane, Howrah in 1946 and stopped it. He was one important leader in the armed revolution conducted bby PannalalDasgupta of RCPI in 1949. He was in jail upto 1962 for this reason.
Santosh Kumar Basu was born in Ranaghat, Nadia. While rreading in Ripon College he came in contact with Surendranath Bandyopadhyay and joined patriotic movement. He was an active member of Anti-Circular Society formed by Surendranath, founder president. He was a renowned barrister and conducted many important political cases. Under the influence of Chittaranjan Das he took many responsibilities of Calcutta Corporation and became Mayor in 1933. He was a member of Legislative Assembly from swarajya Dal and member of Cabinet in the Ministry of Fazlul Haq.He was a member of AICC for a long time.Je was appointed as Deputy High Commissioner of East Pakistan, Dhaka. He was elected twice as a member of Upper House of Parliament.
