584. Mrigen Datta , 585. Mrinal Kanti Basu (1886-1957)

Mrigen Datta was born in Midnapore. He assassinated the District Magistrate Mr. Burge In Midnapore Play Ground by bullet but he himself died on the spot in return by the  bullets of the police and the securities.


Mrinal Kanti Basu was born in Jessore. He took up politics during Anti partition of bengal movement  1905. He established Jessore Samity for publicizing national goods.In 1906-07 he became member of Bengal Provincial Congress committee and in 1923 became member of Swarajya Dal.He left Congress in 1925. He became editor of Amritabazar Patrika in 1926 and became president of All India Trade Union Congress in 1946. He was arrested during the strike of sweepers of Calcutta Corporation in `1940.
