Mani Singh was born in Calcutta. He was a leader of peasants and workers movement. He joined Anushilan Samity and started fight against the British at the age of 15. Then he joined the leftist movement in undivided India. He took active role in Hajong of Mymensing to protect the peasants against excessive taxation in 1935 and in 1946-47 he took active role in Tebhaga Andolan in Mymensing. Later he came in contact with the pioneer of Communist Movement Muzaffar Ahmed In 1971 he was one of the members of Advisory Committee of liberation movement of Bangladesh in Mujib Nagar. He was one of the fouder of Communist Party of Bangla Desh. he was Secretary general of C.P.B. for long time and president of the party upto 1987. He courted arrest 12 times and remained underground for 20 years. he died in Dhaka.
Manindranath Nayak was born in Chandannagar . As per police record his application for admission in MSc in Presidency College was rejected. He, well in ahead of the Manicktala Bomb case, began to prepare bombs by putting explosives in the shell of coconut. Rasbehari Bose sent bombs prepared by him to Lahore, //meerut, andDelhi in 1912. Lord Hardinge became wounded with one of such bomb and the elephant along with its Mahut.As e was a resident of Chandannagar, British police could not arrest him or imprisoned him.He could not go out of Chandannagar for 5 years to avoid police eyesight. he developed close intimacy with Aurobindo. He became editor of "Prabartak' of Matilal Roy for long time.
In 1915, a Bengali literary magazine named Prabartak was launched under the editorship of Manindra Nath Nayak with the blessings of Motilal Roy and Sri Aurobindo.[1] In 1920, Roy founded the Prabartak Sangha in Chandernagore, then a French possession. In 1925, he assumed the title of Sangha Guru or the chief spiritual leader of the organization. In May 1927, Rabindranath Tagore laid the foundation of the prayer hall of the Prabartak Sangha.
