215. Jitu Chotka Santal. 216. Jiten Ghosh (1901-1976)

Jitu Santal was a leader of Santal Rebellion in Dinajpur.He and his comrade Samu constructed a fort in Adina Majid and fought with bows and arrows against British army. But he died by a bullet of the opponent.

Jiten Ghosh was born in Dhaka in 1901.He was arrested and beaten by the police suspecting him a revolutionary. Firstly, he was jailed in 1921 for joining Non-cooperation movement. He refused to move the grinding machine and he was tortured.He was released after six months but again he was put to imprisonment  for two years for disobeying prohibitionary rule. While he was moved to Madaripur  Jail , he got acquainted with revolutionary Purna Das and was influenced by his revolutionary thoughts. He was released in 1923 for picketing and was brought to Hooghly Jail. He he became co-prisoner with Jatin Das.In 1924 he went to Burma to a relative's house to make himself out of the vision of police. There he formed   a revolutionary organisation with the help of non-resident Bengalees.He was expert in collecting fire arms . He was arrested among with others in Burma under a ordinance issued by British Govt. He was released in 1931 by the authority for his deterioration of health. After a few days he was arrested under Bengal Ordinance and sent to Presidency jail. There he met Bhabani Sen, a Communist leader . He was sent to Deuli Jail in1933. He joined the hunger strike undertook by the Andamqan prisoners. When he was released he returning to Burma organised secretly Communist Party in 1938 along with Dr. Amar Nag, Harinarayan Ghosal. In that year he joined Communist Party of India after coming to Dhaka. He organised Farmers Conference in Kukutia Village in 1941.He along with his comrades organised Tebhaga movement
He remained in East Bengal after Partition and formed different democratic movements. He came to India secretly with his family after the assassination of Mujibar Rahman in 1975. He died  in a Motor accident in India. " Agnidiner Burma" , "Behind the Jail", "Bloody Evening" among his  important works.
