Dr. Nanigopal Devdas was born in Katnarpara of Bagura District in British India on 1st February, 1912.
He passed the Matriculation Examination in 1928 from Bagura Coronation Institute and Intermediate of Science in 1930 from Rajshahi Govt. College. He passed, securing record marks, in MB examination from Carmichael Medical College in 1936. He was awarded gold medal in his specialised course in Gynaecology. He devoted himself to the cause of mothes.rland being inspired by the revolutionaries Prafulla Chaki (Prafulla Chaki pronunciation (Bengali: প্রফুল্ল চাকী Profullo Chaki) (1888–1908) was a Bengali revolutionary associated with the Jugantar group of revolutionaries who carried out assassinations against British colonial officials in an attempt to secure Indian independence ) and Jatindramohan Roy.
Nanigopal came in contact with the then Communist party of India while he was the membres of ABSA, and BPSF. He participated in freedom fighting activities. He also performed successfully in hisw professional career in Bagura and its neighbouring districts.
He was a member of IMA (1940 - 1947). he established branch office of Medical Association of Pakistan (!960 - !963) to organise the medical practitioners of Bagura".
He wrote medical books of International reputation. he participated in Mukti Judha of Bangladesh in 1971. He was a founder president of Bagura Natya goshthi. He organised many other organisation to commemorate the death of the revolutionaries.
Dr. Nanigopal Devdas .... Daktarbabu was my immdtely elder bro's (Mej-da) respected Father-in-law. He also treated my mother for some time. He cured me fm a disease & I have high regards for Late Daktarbabu. He was well known to Bogra (Bagura) people as was evident to me when I visited Northern Bangladesh on a tour & my boyhood friend Dilip Mukherjee & his family always held him in high regards due to his high medical acumen.Daktarbabu's eldest son & his wife who are based in Tata (Jamshedpur) are also celebrated Doctors. Gradually... I read books written by Daktarbabu & knew about his Literary sides. Moulana Vasani spoke highly of Dr. N. G Devdas. He was a boyhood friend of famous revolutionar & a martyr Prafulla Chaki. May be this blog space is not enough to say words about him. My tribute to Dr. N. G Devdas.
